Resource Centre’s activity

UNDP initiated establishment of the Human Development Resource Centre, which was officially opened under the premises of UWED on October 18, 2008.

The modern concept of the Human Development was formed in the late 80s of the 20th century. The  main point of this concept is that human beings should be seen as the ends in themselves rather than the means to achieve progress in socio-economic development of a country.

The main goals and objectives of the Resource Centre are to:
  1. develop a research-scientific, training-methodological base with a purpose of training on Human Development;
  2. organize training courses for students, academic staff, public servants and other interested parties;
  3. conduct trainings for academic staff and develop training methods;
  4. improve the quality of scientific research in the area of Human Development;
  5. introduce the Human Development study course into academic curricula not only of UWED, but also to other higher educational institutions;
  6. establish the Association of Teachers on Human Development;
  7. establish a youth network on Human Development.
The Human Development Resource Centre is aimed not only to develop theoretical aspects and methodology of the Human Development course, but also to:
  • develop case studies, handouts and methodological materials, and recommendations to the Human Development course;
  • create a library on Human Development;
  • create a website on Human Development, information and resource base of HD data as well as establish bilateral cooperation with regional institutions;
  • create a depositary of movies and documentaries;
  • create a video laboratory to prepare video lectures.
