Teachers' Association

The Association of University Teachers in Human Development (the Association) was initiated by UNDP Human Development Project and University of the World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED). The Association is the voluntary public association of teachers of the higher educational institutions, who have practical work experience in delivering Human Development (HD) course or have been involved in introduction of this course in their institutions. The Association’s operation is focused on maintaining the professional communication among its members; it serves as the critical tool of networking and rapport among the teachers from various universities and scientific centres both in Tashkent city and in the regions of Uzbekistan who are delivering or planning to deliver the HD course. The Association will enable a feeling of integrity in the community of scientists and teachers involved in the process of «Human Development» course introduction in curricula of the higher educational institutions.

Goals and Objectives of the Association:

• to increase the role of HD course teachers in the society, to achieve the public recognition of the services provided by the certified teachers;
• to promote the knowledge deepening and teaching skill improvement of the teachers — the Association’s members;
• to provide the guidelines on the «Human Development» course introduction in academic activity of the higher educational institutions;
• to establish and develop international collaboration of the Association;
• to develop and publish the training and educational materials;
• to assist in development of the HD curricula for the higher educational institutions;
• to facilitate and support involvement of the Association’s members in the advanced training, including their invitation to the training courses;
• to arrange and accomplish the conferences, seminars and the other HD-associated scientific and practical events;
• to support scientific research of the teachers, to incorporate analytical research in the teaching practice and develop the scientific contacts; and
• to deliver counseling to the teachers of the higher educational institutions on HD issues and this course introduction in the higher educational institutions.

Membership Eligibility Criteria:

• the candidates with the higher education and academic degree (at least Master degree), preferably in the field of economy and social science (sociology);
• the candidates holding position of the higher educational institution’s teacher;
• the candidates with at least 3-year practical work experience as a lecturer in one of the above fields;
• the candidates with professional knowledge in the field of the socio-economic development of Uzbekistan;
• the preference will be given to the candidates who have publications; and
• the practical lecturers in Uzbek and Russian; knowledge of English is preferable.

Those teachers of the higher educational institutions who have passed the teachers’ courses under the framework of the «Human Development» Project and have been awarded the trainer’s certificate automatically become the Association’s members.

Members are Entitled to the Following Benefits:

• to get comprehensive information on the Association’s operation;
• to offer the proposals regarding Association’s operation and employ the Association’s services;
• to raise the questions related to the Association’s operation in front of its authorities, to offer the proposals on its operation improvement and participate in its discussion;
• to be involved in the contests implemented by the Association on the scientific research accomplishment, the scientific works and textbooks development, the articles publishing, etc.;
• to participate in the seminars and training courses held by the Association; and
• to apply the Association’s library pool, computer base, the video depositary and documentation.

Members are Obliged to:

• fully participate in the Association’s operation; to improve their professional teaching knowledge and skills;
• submit at least one copy of their papers, monographs, textbooks and the other printed works on HD to the Association’s library;
• promote the HD concept in the educational facilities; and
• fully participate in the Association’s activities.
